A Visit to MAC (Toronto Shopping Part 2)

MAC haul
As promised, after my annual trip to Toronto, I’m back with some of the goodies I got at MAC. As I mentioned in my last post, I always make time to go to the Eaton’s Centre and hit the Sephora and MAC because there is no Sephora or MAC near where I live. As much as I adore online shopping, I find its always way better to get to see the products in person, check out what’s new, and get advice from the people who work there who really know the products. MAC is such a fun store to go into in person. I had some things I needed to restock, enough empties for a Back-to-MAC freebie, and I was also on a mission to find a pale blue/green eye shadow.

I love the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ and I usually have the little size in my purse to refresh my makeup. MAC had come out with a Coconut scented mini Prep + Prime Fix+ with the Work It Out Collection that I had picked up last summer. Being obsessed with all things coconut, I was excited to find out that they’d introduced three permanent scents, including romantic Rose, calming Lavender, and creamy Coconut – hooray!

I also picked up another Pro Palette Eye Shadow x 4 Compact. I have some of the Pro Palette Eye Shadow x 15 compacts, but I like having the smaller palettes on hand to keep my favourite and most used shades in. They are less cumbersome and also easier to travel with.

I needed to restock my two favourite MAC eye shadow shades, Omega and Patina. I use these so much I keep them in a Pro Palette Eye Shadow x 2 Compact.

Fresh new Omega and Patina, my favourite dynamic duo

Omega is a “soft muted beige-taupe” matte. Its very cool-toned. Patina is “taupe brown w/golden pearl” frost that is still on the cool-toned side of things. One of my favourite things to do is mix them together for a perfect casual, no-makeup makeup look.

I had 6 empty MAC containers so I returned them to get recycled through the Back-to-MAC program so I could get a free lipstick of my choice. I went with Capricious, one of my all-time favourite MAC lipsticks. I seriously think this might be my fourth tube of Capricious. Described as “fanciful rose plum” in the lustre finish (my fav finish), Capricious is a reddish-brown plum that’s not too cool and not too warm. You can apply it more lightly for a natural everyday look, or pair it with a dark liner (like MAC Plum) for a more dramatic, vampy plum look.

I was also on a mission to find a pale blue/green eye shadow. I follow makeup artist Lisa Eldridge on Instagram and she had posted some pics from the Lancome spring 2018 collection, and I absolutely loved this eye shadow look she’d done on Lily Collins. I guess its most likely one or more of the shades in the LE Eye Sugar Palette. lancome eye sugar palette dupe
I usually stick to neutrals and had never thought of wearing this type of shade, but seeing someone with similar hair colour and skin tone pulling off a pale turquoise-blue shadow inspired me! I didn’t have anything like this in my collection, so I thought I would search for a similar shade at MAC. I decided on Aqua, a “subdued, pale grey aqua” matte.

I haven’t been brave enough to try it out yet, but I will post some pics when I do 🙂

Hope you’ve enjoyed my posts sharing my Toronto shopping escapades.

Thanks so much for reading!

  2. What make you pick Mac over the other brands available at Sephora? I’m always debating which brand of makeup I get…

  5. I was happy MAC made those scented Fix+ permanent! I was first introduced to them from the Work It Out collection as well.
Patina is one of the very best eye shadows ever! I’ve hit pan on mine but nowhere as much as yours.
Can’t wait to see your pale aqua eye shadow look!
