At the end of January I was off to Toronto for the annual national library conference. While I’m there, I always try to make time to do some of my favourites and sometimes try out new things too (like going to the Bite Lip Lab). I always make time to go to the Eaton’s Centre and hit the Sephora and MAC because there is no Sephora or MAC near where I live. I had a great trip to Sephora this year!
This year, my co-worker and co-presenter who traveled with me had never been to Toronto, so we did some very touristy things. We went to the CN Tower! It had been ages since I had been to the CN Tower, but it was really fun to go again.
Another annual tradition is to go to high tea at the Tea Room at the Windsor Arms Hotel. If you’ve never gone to high tea, it is super fun! The tea menu is literally a hard cover book (I didn’t know there were that many teas!) and they serve you scones with cream and jam and mini sandwiches and mini deserts on a tiered tray. Its also a good excuse to wear a fascinator.
We also went to the Royal Ontario Museum. When I lived in Toronto I used to go all the time. Its a beautiful museum. The highlight of my visit was the Christian Dior exhibit. It was fabulous!
But back to my Sephora visit…Some of the things I picked up were refills of things I was out of. I desperately needed some more Urban Decay Chill Cooling & Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray.
I also needed some more of my foundation, Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in Y205 Albaster, and my Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder.
The other thing I desperately needed was a new brow powder. I had been using the NARS Single eye shadow in Bali as a brow powder. Its a very cool-toned, matte, medium taupey-grey. I had hit pan, and just before I was set to leave for Toronto, I dropped it and the remaining powder totally disintegrated. I was headed out-of-town to present at a conference with no brow product! Gasp!
At the Eaton’s Centre Sephora, they didn’t stock the NARS Single eye shadows. I strolled over to the Anastasia Beverly Hills section, and was immediately totally overwhelmed. Luckily, a super helpful SA recognized a gal in need, and came to my rescue. She offered me a mini-makeover service for Polished Brows. She grabbed a bunch of brow products for me to try and did a brow make-over on me! The product that I liked best that she tried on me was the Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder in 05 Deep “dark brown to black – cool.”
I love the cute packaging! Its a little bit of overkill for a brow powder, but I can forgive that on account of the cuteness. I mean the shadow is shaped like an eyebrow. Come on!
She did such an amazing job on my brows. I wish I could get them to look this good!
The Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder “instantly fills your brows to create a soft, natural brow look with its velvety smooth, 12-hour formula that adheres to hair and skin. The lighter-to-darker shade duos mimic the gradual look of natural brows, and the eyebrow-shaped pan makes for an easy guided application with no hard lines or mistakes.” I am loving this brow powder. I like a powder versus a pencil because I find it faster to do in the morning and its a bit more of a natural look. This shade works really well for me. Its $32 CAD.
I had a great trip to Toronto! My next post will be about my trip to MAC 🙂
Thanks so much for reading!
