Sephora Favourites: Give Me Some Nude Lip

Sephora Favourites Give Me Some Nude Lip

Sephora Favourites “Give Me Some Nude Lip” Lip Kit

When Sephora was offering their $25 off promotion in December, in addition to picking up the Bite Beauty Champagne Discovery Lip Set I also couldn’t resist the Sephora Favourites “Give Me Some Nude Lip” Lip Kit. I had really enjoyed Sephora’s “Give Me Some Bold Lip” Lip Kit. I love the idea of getting to try out sample sizes of popular lip products for much less than it would cost to get the full size of all six items. The Give Me Some Nude Lip kit is $33 CAD, but to buy all six separately would be $84 CAD! I’ll jump right in and tell you what I thought of the six nude lip picks in the kit.First up is the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Ludwig. I’ve heard a lot of people talking about Ludwig, and I think its one of the best-selling shades. Its currently out-of-stock on the Sephora Canada site. Ludwig is a warm, pinky-brown nude with a matte finish. Theย “Give Me Some Bold Lip” Lip Kit had also contained an Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade K-Dub, and not normally being the biggest liquid lipstick fan, I was surprised at how much I like these. The formula is light and comfortable and doesn’t dry out my lips too much. The Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are $24 for the full-size.

The kit contained one full-sized product, the Ciate London Liquid Velvet Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bitter Sweet. I really only knew Ciate as a nail polish brand and didn’t realize they had such an extensive makeup line. This product was a love/hate for me. I really liked the formula. It actually lived up to its claim of being a moisturizing matte. It was very comfortable on the lips and also pretty long-wearing. I loved the shade Bitter Sweet, described as “grey mink”. It is a unique cool-toned brown with the slightest hint of grey, but not too much to make it unflattering or unwearable.

The hate part? The scent and taste. It has a very perfumey scent that reminds me of a cheap drugstore product. Even worse is that, when I went to eat or drink anything, all I could taste was the soapy/perfumey taste of this lip product. The icky scent made this one a fail for me. The Ciate London Liquid Velvet retails for $23 CAD.

I was excited to try the Buxom Full-On Lip Cream because the shade Dolly, a pinky-mauve, looked so pretty. Dolly did not disappoint. It was a beautiful sheer and shiny (but not shimmery or glittery) gloss that wasn’t sticky. However, shortly after applying it I started experiencing a tingling all over my lips. Turns out the Buxom Full-On Lip Cream “plumps to perfection with a teasing tingle!” Nooooo!!! I absolutely hated this. It kept on tingling and tingling and by the time I got to work I had to completely wipe this off. Maybe some people like that sensation, but this was not for me. Poor Dolly. The full-sized retails for $24 CAD if you’re up for it ๐Ÿ™‚

Thankfully, I had more luck with the Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Cream in C211 “Rose Wood.” This mini lipstick is just too cute. This was my first time trying one of the Artist Rouge Cream lipsticks. They come in two finishes, mate and satin, and C211 is satin. I loved the formula and finish of this lipstick. It reminded me of the MAC creamsheens. The shade C211 is a gorgeous mauve, which is a bit of an odd shade choice for a “nude” lip kit, but I don’t mind because I love it! The full-sized Artist Rouge Cream lipsticks are $27 CAD.

Speaking of adorable miniature lipsticks…is the Tarte Color Splash Lipstick Rainforest of the Sea Collection in the shade Rum Punch. This is a beautiful lipstick. I loved the creamy, moisturizing formula. The lighting is not the greatest in this pic (sorry – its so hard to take photos in Canadian winters) but the swatch shows the true shade more. Rum Punch is a warm, reddish brown. Theย full-sized Tarte Color Splash Lipsticks are $27 CAD.

The kit also came with a mini Bite Beauty Multistick in Brioche, a “rich terracotta.” I really liked the Multistick in the Champagne Discovery Lip Set so I was pumped to have one of these in another shade. The Multistick “applies like a cream and wears like a powder for weightless color applicationโ€”just apply with your finger or a brush on the eyes, lips, and cheeks.” These have a light, thin texture that glides on and then dries down to a more matte finish that is actually very comfortable on the lips. I also like that they’re pretty much unscented. If you haven’t tried out the MultisticksI would definitely recommend you check them out the next time you are in Sephora. They are $28 CAD.

I was really happy with this lip kit. I had four hits and two misses – not bad! I think the Sephora favourites kits are such a fun way to try out new products. I hope you enjoyed this review ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Iโ€™ve gone though a few mini sizes of the Buxom lip polish in Dolly. For me the tingling feels cool and minty (like I just ate a peppermint patty), so I love this in the summer, but I never notice any plumping in my lips.

    • Dolly is such a pretty shade – I wish I wasn’t so sensitive to the tingling. Thanks for sharing your experience! I think there are lots of folks who would be cool with the tingling/plumping effect (unlike me), so I’m so happy for your comment ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. These all look so beautiful! A nice mix of pink and brown nude tones ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t tried a lip tingling product like the Buxom one you mentioned, I’m not sure I’d like it either lol
