What I Ordered During the Sephora VIB Sale

I love seeing what people chose to pick up at Sephora’s 20% off fall sale. I often use the sale to finally purchase an expensive item on my wish-list or to try out some new products. This year, however, I was totally practical. I decided to save money by restocking some of my staples. I ordered five items that are products that I use everyday.
When I placed my order, I was a bit surprised to find that despite being on a low/no buy for much of this past year, I somehow still managed to qualify for VIB Rouge again (scary!). So my package included the 2017 VIB Rouge welcome gift, a custom red Pro Mini Flawless Airbrush #56.5 from the Sephora Collection. This is the first non-makeup welcome gift I’ve seen and I actually really liked getting a beauty tool, instead of a mini lipstick for example. I have a few of Sephora’s brushes and find them quite good quality and they don’t shed bristles (shedding is a deal breaker for me). This brush is one of the softest brushes I’ve ever felt. The Sephora site suggests using it “with cream or liquid foundation” but I think the size and shape also makes it a great blush brush.

I ordered more of my foundation, the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in the lightest shade, Y205. This is the foundation I have been using for the past few years and I love it! Its normally $52 CAD so getting 20% off was fantastic. I ordered my absolute favourite concealer, the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer, also in the lightest shade 0.5 “light beige for fair to light complexion”. I have been using this concealer for years. It is THE best under-eye concealer, especially if you tend to have dry skin like I do. Its regularly $32 CAD. Another staple that I’ve been using forever is the Too Faced Shadow Insurance eye shadow primer. It takes me nearly a year to use up a full tube of this primer because you only need such a small amount, so for $24 CAD its already a bargain but its even better on sale right?

I also needed to refill my makeup setting spray. I frequently use the less expensive L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray which is a pretty close dupe for the Urban Decay makeup setting sprays. The UD setting sprays are $36 CAD and the L’Oreal setting spray is only $16.99 CAD. For the VIB sale, I splurged on my all-time favourite Urban Decay Chill Cooling and Hydrating Makeup Setting Spray. I’ve tried all of UD’s different formulas, and I really like the Chill Cooling and Hydrating best. It seriously works. I like the new packaging design.

The final item I ordered was my favourite perfume, Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey. I am more of a signature perfume girl and wear the same perfume everyday. L’Eau d’Issey is a classic and its the perfume my Mom also wears. I used to borrow hers all the time when I was younger! I’ve been wearing it for about 10 years now. This is the description of the scent “L’Eau d’Issey is a pure floral with musky and woody tones. A very complex fragrance made up of a wide range of floral scents including lotus, cyclamen, freesia, carnations, and white lilies, with hints of amberseed and musk.” My fiance tells me it smells like “chocolate and orchids.”

I often like to order the rollerball version, because I like applying it with the rollerball, because its travel-sized and travel friendly, and because it takes me so long to use up an entire bottle of perfume so I prefer purchasing perfume in smaller sizes.

Those were all of my Sephora VIB sale purchases! Did you take advantage of the sale this time around? I’d love to hear what you got. I didn’t get anything from Sephora on Black Friday this year though. None of the deals interested me especially. What did you guys think of the Black Friday deals this year? Love to hear from you 🙂

Thanks so much for reading,
Love,

  1. Funny how you still managed to hit Rouge status! 😛 I agree, Sephora brushes are pretty good quality for the money.
It’s great to stock up on staples during the sale – you did well!

  2. Good job on sticking to your staples! I’m going to go smell that perfume next time I’m in store 🙂
I didn’t buy anything from Sephora during the sale this year, but I did make a Colourpop purchase the same week. I find that the Black friday deals aren’t very interesting for me at Sephora. I wound up purchasing a Tarte concealer online yesterday because it was 50% off, but that’s it.

    • I am so curious to try out Colourpop, especially since Sephora is carrying it now. I’m just not sure what to get. I’ll have to read some more reviews. Ok glad its not just me who found the black friday deals uninspiring. Hope you’re enjoying the Tarte concealer! 🙂

      • I’m so excited that Sephora has Colourpop! I hope they start offering more products, the current Sephora colourpop selection was pretty limited compared to what’s on the colourpop website. I’d love to see their concealers and bronzers offered.
        Thanks!! ☺

  3. Very nice haul, and you did well to avoid the BF sales! I guess that $25 Rouge coupon is coming up soon, though. 😉

I just made Rouge, for the first time ever. Scared and also drooling at the prospect of free unlimited shipping.
