DIY Pedis & My Fav Summer Polishes for Toes

Bon Vital Spa Pomegranate & Acai Berry Salt Scrub and Lavender & Rosemary Sugar Scrub

Bon Vital’ BVspa Pomegranate & Acai Berry Salt Scrub and Lavender & Rosemary Sugar Scrub

Summertime is when you need your feet to look their best. During Canadian winters, I literally don’t see my feet for months on end, but they emerge in the summer to peek out of cute open-toed shoes. I’m a big fan of going for the occasional professional pedicure, but I also really like doing my own at home. The thing I love most about a pedi is that although my skin is generally pretty sensitive to fragrance, the one exception are my feet. Its the one time I can indulge in that luxurious spa-like experience of using lovely scented skincare products like a normal girl! Here are my fav skincare products that I’ve been using for summertime feet, and the polishes I have been loving the most on my toes.
DIY pedicures are all about exfoliating! I love the sugar and salt scrubs they use at the spa. Having someone rub your feet with a gentle exfoliating scrub is pretty much the best thing in life. Bon Vital’ is a brand used by professional spas and massage therapists. Their new BVspa line are “spa quality” that you can use at home. BVspa products are paraben, sulfate, and phthalate-free and made with natural ingredients like Dead Sea salt, olive oil, safflower seed oil & jojoba oil.  I’ve been loving the super gentle Lavender & Rosemary Sugar Scrub which is great for more sensitive skin, and for a bit more exfoliating power, the Pomegranate & Acai Berry Salt Scrub (which smells AMAZING!). There is also a Pink Grapefruit scented one. I found them to be lightly scented, not overpowering. BVspa is available at Shoppers Drug Mart and the sugar and salt scrubs are $11.99 CAD each.

After exfoliating, I need a really good, intense moisturizer. The two I have used the most this summer, are The Body Shop Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue($19 CAD) and Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Cream($14.99 CAD). The Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue feels light and refreshing and I love that its pink! If you love the scent of coconut, like I do, you would love the Burt’s Bees. This one is very intense, so I usually use it before bed to give it a chance to get absorbed into my skin overnight.

I am really into dark, vampy shades on toes. My three favs that I have used the most this summer are:

Chanel Le Vernis Rouge Noir #18

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy nail polish in "500 Ace of spades"

Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace Nail Polish

Urban Decay “Mrs. Mia Wallace” Nail Polish (LE)

I spared you pics of my actual toes 🙂 Which polishes make you feel the most summery? Do you love dark shades like this or prefer something totally different? I’d love to hear what polishes you have been rocking this summer.

Thanks for reading!
Love,
Nerdy Librarian Girl ❤

  1. I go back and forth on bright and classic red on the toes for the summer! I polish my toes all year round – I do tend to go to the vampy shades in the winter time! I really like that Urban Decay polish in Mrs. Mia Wallace – too bad it was LE.
