Hey everyone! I just wanted to do a quick post about the free items I got with my latest Sephora order, especially because one of the Beauty Deals is pretty great and is still available on the website. When I placed my order, I ended up qualifying for VIB Rouge again [hangs head in shame and cuts up credit card]. I was happy to see that the VIB Rouge Welcome Gift was actually available this time. I never did get the VIB Rouge gift last year (which I think was a mini Marc Jacobs Beauty Lipstick) even after contacting Sephora, who continually said they were “out of stock”, which I think was pretty bad customer service considering how much one has spent when one hits the Rouge level. The only VIB Rouge gift I’d received was for 2014, the first time I qualified, and that was the mini Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick. So I was really pleased with the 2016 VIB Rouge Welcome Gift, a super cute mini NARS blush.
I’m obsessed with everything miniature so this type of thing just gives me a cute-overload. I have a number of full-sized NARS blushes – you can check out my post on my fav NARS blushes for fair skin – and I’m already a big fan. I thought the shade, the rather unpronounceable Goulue, a cool berry-pinky, was a good choice because it would likely flatter a wide range of skin tones.
Goulue has that trademark duo-chrome golden sheen that NARS blushes (like Orgasm) are known for. Yes a blush this size may be a little difficult to get your blush brush into, but its really pretty and I think it makes a great travel-size. Since NARS blushes are typically $38 CAD for 0.16oz, I think the generous 0.14oz mini is a pretty sweet freebie.
I also redeemed some Sephora points on the 500-point Tarteist Tools set. I don’t go for the 500-point rewards that often, but I quite like Tarte and I hadn’t tried any of the items in the Tarteist Tools best-sellers kit. It came with:
- Tarteist Clay Paint Liner in Bronze (reg $29 CAD)
- angled bamboo liner brush
- Tartiest Lash Paint Mascara (reg $28 CAD)
- Tarteist Lip Crayon in Mood Ring (reg $22 CAD)
- Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Hangry (reg $24 CAD)
So if you were to purchase the full-sizes of all of these individually, it would be $103 CAD. My favs in the set are definitely the berry-toned Lip Crayon and Lip Paint. Love these shades! I’m not in love with the minty scent/taste of the Lip Paint (bleck!), but I like the formula, which I think is similar to the Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipsticks, and I’m not a huge lover of matte lip products. This liquid lipstick is not sticky or dry and doesn’t really “set” – very much like the Smashbox – and so isn’t overly drying on the lips and feels comfortable.
My other fav was the really cool Bronze Tarteist Clay Paint Liner. You could use this as an eyeshadow base, all over the lid, or as a liner. It reminded me of the MAC Paints. I can’t imagine anyone not loving this rich ,bronzey-brown shade with a hint of sheen.
Sadly, the 500-point Tarteist Tools set does not seem to be available on the Sephora site anymore, but they may have some in stock at local Sephora stores. What IS still available though is the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Sampler. This book of 24 lipsticks shades from UD’s newly launched Vice Lipstick line, is free with a $25 CAD purchase with the code UDVICES. I can’t wait to try on and swatch all of these for you. I will be back soon with an entire post!
That’s all for now. I have lots of good stuff to post about this month and my goal for the remainder of August is to get those reviews up! I’ve been so distracted by the beautiful and hot summer weather 🙂
Thanks for reading!
