A New MAC Eyeshadow: MAC Extra Dimension

Hi everyone! So after traveling to Jamaica, St. John’s, and then Quebec, I was off to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for another library conference. Do you know what Librarians love? They love Mac. Well, and also Fluevogs. So we all had to visit the MAC store while we were there πŸ™‚ I was perusing the eye shadows, and I was struck by a beautiful shade that I could not believe I hadn’t seen before/didn’t already own. Because it was a tester, the lovely embossing with its wave design had been completely worn down, so I didn’t recognize it immediately as one of the MAC Extra Dimension eye shadows. These are apparently part of the permanent collection now. I was so excited to see how cute it was when the SA retrieved a new one for me. This is one of the prettiest eye shadows have ever owned.

The MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadows are described as:
a modern hybrid formula that combines the smoothness of a cream, the blendability of a liquid and the finish of a powder with long-wearing colour and prismatic reflections. Its creamy, silky, near-fluid formula creates luminous, well-defined eyes in finishes from sheer crystallized light to stunning metallic.”

The shade that caught my eye was Stolen Moment, described as a “dark taupe.” It’s a rich taupey-brown with so many different undertones going on depending on how the light hits it (definitely some purpley undertones). It also has the prettiest pewter sheen when it catches the light. I think its a really unique shade and if you are into neutral yet complex taupey-browns, you would love this one!

The MAC Extra Dimension eye shadows are $26 CAD, versus the regular $19 MAC eye shadows. You get the exact same amount of product in each. Are the Extra Dimension shadows worth an extra $7? Hmm, I’m not sure…I guess if you really like the cool wave embossing, or if , like me, you really like a particular shade. I found the Extra Dimension shadows performed the same as the regular MAC shadows.

Have you tried any of the MAC Extra Dimension eye shadows?

I also picked up two refills for my pro palette that I needed, Omega and Patina, which I have hit pan on and repurchased multiple times now. These pics are from a previous post.

Did you know MAC has reduced the price of its pan eye shadows? They were $12 CAD, and now they are only $8 CAD (I think in the US they are $6). Amazing!!! How is that for motivation to fill up a pro palette?

Thanks for reading!
Love,

  1. Wow look at you with the pan on Omega and Patina! I’ve had Patina for years and still haven’t hit pan even though it’s one of my favourite MAC eye shadows! And Stolen Moment is also one of my favourites! I actually have 2 of them, one as a single and another as part of a Holiday duo. I just can’t say no to taupe. πŸ˜›

    • Agreed – taupe is my weakness as well πŸ™‚ I have gone through 2 or 3 Omegas and Patinas now. Crazy right? I love mixing them together. They create the perfect daytime shade and I find it brings out the green in my eyes.

  2. Erytheia The Red

That is a gorgeous shade. I don’t know if I’d ever spend that much on one eyeshadow, but if I did that would be a front runner!

  5. Wow that shade and packaging is just gorgeous. $26 though….eeek that hurts! I have a long list of Mac shadows that I want to buy and fill my Z-palette up with…I actually don’t own ANY Mac shadows so I’m excited to try them. πŸ™‚

  6. Yep in the US the pan refills for the shadows are $6 now (down from $10). I picked up a few last month and I plan on picking up some more soon. I got space in my Z-Palette for a few more shades.

And Stolen Moment looks really pretty!! You can use it lightly for a day look or really pack it on for something more intense.

  7. I just have one of the Extra Dimensions (Legendary Lure) and it’s gorgeous! Love the one you got, looks very versatile.

But yeah, once they dropped the price of the Pro Palette Refill Eyeshadows, I dropped some cash! Hahaha. Gotta put together my new palette πŸ™‚

    • That looks like a pretty one too! OMG I am trying so hard to restrain myself from ordering (another) pro palette and filling it up. There are so many more shadows I want. I’m trying to control myself πŸ™‚
