Hi everyone! In May, the fiance had a folklore conference at Université Laval in Quebec City so I decided to tag along. The amount of traveling I have been doing lately has gotten me seriously behind on my blogging. Quebec is our french-speaking province, and Quebec City (the capital with a population of about 500,000) dates back to the 1600s. Its so beautiful and it feels like you’re in Europe. I thought you might like to see a few pics from my trip before I delve into the goodies I picked up while I was there.
I met this beautiful little bird while I was there and his owner let him sit on my hand. He was so friendly and cute!
We walked along the boardwalk overlooking the St. Lawrence river. It was such a hot day. In the background is the stunning hotel, Château Frontenac, opened in 1893.
We also headed out to the Montmorency Falls, where you climb this huge, steep wooden staircase to get to the top of the falls and then walk across the suspension bridge with the water roaring past underneath you. It was kind of scary actually!
Now on to the shopping! One of the coolest places we stopped into in old Quebec, was the Three Crow Glass Studio where you can watch the glassblowing artists working.
I bought a pink handmade blown glass ring holder.
I also discovered there is a Fluevog Store in old Quebec! I have two pairs from the Canadian designer (that post if you’re curious), but I don’t often get to an actual Fluevog Store. I wanted to bring them all home!
I finally decided on the patent purple and iridescent pink “Pearl Hart” Bellevues, criss-crossed mary janes ($299 CAD).
While my dude was at his conference, I kept myself busy with a trip to Sephora…
I just posted a review about the Lancome Juicy Shakers, and you know I meant it when I said I was really enjoying the one I got in Meli Melon because I picked up another one, Cherry Symphony. This cherry red shade has a much better scent. The flavour is described as “cherry pop” but isn’t a cough-syrup type of cherry (bleck!) its more of a cherry candy scent. I would prefer all unscented beauty products in an ideal world, but I am just loving this shakeable, moisturizing lip oil so much!
Like the others, Cherry Symphony is a sheer wash of colour (nothing like it appears in the bottle) but you can use a lip liner underneath for more of a pop. I’ve used MAC Soar with it.
My birthday is in May so I received my VIB gift, and chose the Marc Jacobs Beauty mini lipstick and eye liner duo.
Although I was not the biggest fan of the Marc Jacobs Lovemarc Lip Gel (my review), I’m actually liking the Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in the shade Kiss Kiss Bang Bang a very wearable “baked rose”, and its one of the teeny tiniest lipstick I think I have ever seen (so cute!). The formula is much more moisturizing and comfortable to wear and it has a similar vanilla scent as the MAC lipsticks. I remain unconvinced that Marc Jacobs lippies are worth $38 CAD though 😛
That’s all for now! Hope you enjoyed these highlights from my sightseeing and shopping adventures in Quebec City.
Thanks so much for reading!
