I had never tried one of these types of masks before, and when I saw the new display in my Lawtons Drugs I was too curious to resist giving it a try. The Rejuve Collagen Gel Face Mask claims to “hydrate & nourish tired, dull, skin to radiant glow.” My favourite type of special facial treatment is a hydrating one, because my skin tends to be on the drier side.
I really liked the ingredients listed in the Rejuve Collagen Gel Face Mask which includes shea butter, hyaluronic acid, collagen, and salicylic acid, and I also liked what wasn’t listed: fragrance or perfume. Sometimes its hard to find luxurious skin treatments that don’t have a ton of artificial fragrance added.
The Rejuve Collagen Gel Face Mask comes in a plastic tray that is filled with liquid. Opening this was messy. Do it over the sink. The liquid and mask did have a light rose-water scent.
When I unfolded the mask, I couldn’t believe how weird and slippery the texture was. It almost felt like it was made of jello.
The instructions say to “carefully place & massage mask over the face”. This wasn’t as easy as it sounded. The pre-cut holes didn’t really fit well around my eyes, nose and mouth and it was so slippery there was no “massaging” that could occur. It will also only stay on if you’re lying down. I wasn’t used to that. Normally I’m putting products on my face that let me set a timer and go about my business while they work their facial magic. They recommend the mask be left on for 20-30 minutes. So its a bit of a commitment.
As fussy as the mask was, I have to admit my skin felt amazing afterwards, very soft and hydrated. I even noticed some of my pigmentation and the pinkness in my skin was reduced. It didn’t irritate my skin or cause any breakouts. I would use it again.
The Maska Rejuve Collagen Gel Face Mask was $5.99 CAD.
