Although I’m totally in love with my favourite mascara, Guerlain Maxi Lash and I have yet to find something I like quite as much, I can never seem to resist trying out a new drugstore mascara (especially when they are on sale!). I’ve had good luck with some of the Revlon mascaras, so I gave the Bold Lacquer Length & Volume Mascara a try.
I immediately found the wand and the formula very similar to the Guerlain Maxi Lash. I really like a more traditional bristle mascara brush, and I also don’t like wands that are too big. The Revlon wand is bigger than the Guerlain, but still a manageable size. The wand did a great job at coating each and every one of my lashes to build volume.
The thing I really like about the Guerlain is that it’s very, very black and dramatic. Described as having “intense colour pigments”, the Bold Laquer is the blackest mascara I have tried from the drugstore. Its just about as intensely black as the Guerlain. Dare I say, it might be a dupe?
The big difference between the two is that the Revlon mascara has fibers. I think that’s what gives such a noticeable volumizing effect. I seriously felt like I had false lashes on. But the downside of fibers is that I did find they flaked off a little bit by the end of the day. Not too badly, but I don’t get any flaking with the Guerlain, it just stays put. I wouldn’t say its a deal breaker for me. I really like the Revlon and would repurchase it.
The Revlon Bold Lacquer Length & Volume Mascara is typically around $9.99 CAD, but I got mine on sale at Lawton’s for only $7.99.
Thanks for stopping by ❤

I actually didn’t know this one was a fibre mascara. I’ve tried the magic potion one(?), and it does flake on me a little sooner than I would have liked…wonder if I should give this a try. Might toss on the “future buys” list JIC.

Its very good for a drugstore mascara. I find the issue I often have with less expensive mascaras is they don’t stay on as well and you have to deal with some flaking and smudging. My two favs are the Guerlain and MAC Haute & Naughty Lash. But for a drugstore option I was impressed with this one!
