After trying out one of the Revlon ColorStay ShadowLinks in Greige and totally loving it, I picked up four more. There are 30 shades in total, and I like that there’s such a great selection of neutral shades. I got Taupe (Satin), Cocoa (Satin), Chocolate (Matte), and Java (Pearl).
Well named, “Taupe” is a very light, cool toned taupe with a little bit of sheen. After “Greige” this one is my favourite. “Cocoa” is a cool medium brown that seems a little more on the matte side than a satin as its described. “Chocolate” is more of a warm brown and is completely matte. Chocolate didn’t have quite as smooth a texture as the others. My least favourite was “Java” which definitely had an uneven texture and way too much glitter for me. It didn’t appear that glittery in the pan.
The Revlon ShadowLinks have received a lot of negative reviews. I can understand if you like really intense, highly pigmented shadows, you might not like these. But on fair skin, shadows can show up very dramatically. For example even MAC’s Satin Taupe looks pretty dark on me. The ShadowLinks are great for when I want a subtle, natural look and are great for work. I do think they would probably work best on lighter skintones (at least the neutrals I’ve tried).
They last really well on me, but I do wear them over my Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer, like I do with any eye shadow I wear.
I am a fan of these cute little singles and I love the way you can interlock them to form your own palette. I got these four at Shoppers Drug Mart for 2 for $6 CAD.
What do you think about Revlon’s Shadowlinks? Love ’em or hate ’em?
Thanks so much for spending time with me ❤
