I’m a bit of a Sephora points hoarder I think, but when I saw the V.I.B. Rouge 1000 Point Perk was two full-sized Marc Jacobs lip products, I finally felt there was something worth blowing some points on. I wanted to get some pics and swatches up right away in case anyone is considering redeeming their points for this and is curious about the shades.
The set arrived in this fancy schmancy faux-velvet lined case that opened like a jewelry box:
It contained a Marc Jacobs Beauty Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyl in “Shooting Stars”, and a Lovemarc Lip Gel in “Cabaret”, which is a V.I.B. Rouge exclusive shade.
Shooting Stars is described as “berry mauve with shimmer” but doesn’t seem berry or mauve to me. Its more of a reddish brown type of shade. Although the Lip Vinyl packaging looks and feels very luxurious and gorgeous, this has got to be the worst lip gloss container I’ve ever encountered! It oozes out all over the outside of the tube EVERY time you re-close it. Its a complete mess! I kept wiping away the excess around the top of the tube and applicator (wasting product) but it was still getting all over everything. I read some reviews and it turns out this is a common complaint about the Marc Jacobs lip glosses. Not something I’d repurchase.
I had much better luck with the beautiful lipstick in Cabaret, a deep plum. I will be reviewing the lipstick in depth soon as part of a review series/giveaway I am going to be starting on high-end, luxury lipsticks (stay tuned for that!).
Here are swatches of Shooting Stars and Cabaret:
Normally the Marc Jacobs Lust For Lacquer Lip Vinyls are $34 CAD, and the Lovemarc Lip Gels are $36 CAD. So at a $70 value (not including tax) this is a pretty nice point perk. I really liked the Lip Vinyl – its just such a shame about the messy packaging.
Thanks for stopping by ❤
