UK Mascaras Review: Max Factor & 17

Max Factor and 17 Mascaras
While I was in England a few months back, I picked up some brands that are hard or impossible to find in Canada (like Burberry & Tom Ford, Sleek, Soap & Glory, and Bourjois). I had also picked up a few mascaras to try out. So many that it took me a while to get through them all πŸ™‚ I’d only managed to review the Rimmel London Glam’Eyes Day 2 Night and the 17 Deconstructed Lash Lacquer so far.

I had been really keen to try some Max Factor mascaras because they get such good reviews and make so many favourite lists. I picked up the Max Factor 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume Black mascara and the Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion Volume & Length Black mascara.

I really, really liked the 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume mascara. It was my favourite out of the three. It’s very black and dramatic and the formula is thick and volumizing. It was long wearing and didn’t flake or smudge at all (it does claim to be “smudge proof”). I also quite liked the applicator: more of a traditional, long tapered bristle brush. I will be sad to say goodbye to this one.

My second favourite was the False Lash Effect Fusion. Max Factor and Cover Girl are both owned by the same company. The False Lash Effect Fusion packaging/wand looks pretty much identical to the Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion mascara.cg_lashblast_fusion_mascara
I’m pretty sure the Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion is a dupe for the Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion. Imagine I went all the way to Europe to buy the same mascara I can find in my own backyard πŸ˜›

The last one, which I only recently have tried out, is the 17 Blow Out Blackest Black Volumise Sculpt Tease Mascara. It had such cute packaging and a cute name, but this one was my least favourite. The formula was nice, and gave my lashes a very pretty feathery effect, but the wand on this one is just too humongous!

The big round wand made the mascara difficult to apply. This mascara also smudged A LOT, which is not normally something I have trouble with. So along with the Deconstructed Lash Lacquer which was a fail, 17 mascaras are not fairing very well.

It was so fun to get to try out some different brands though.

Thanks for Stopping by ❀

Love,

Nerdy Librarian Girl
