The May issue of Allure magazine featured two taupe eyeshadows, Estee Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow in “Wild Truffle” and Revlon ColorStay ShadowLinks in “Greige”, in their “Backstage Beauty” article on runway trends for fall 2014. The “soft mix of beige and gray” was described as “pretty much the perfect shade”. Editor Sophia Panych also listed Revlon’s Greige as her “new everyday shadow”.
Always ready to try a new taupe, I picked up the very tiny (1″x1″) Revlon Shadowlink at the drugstore. These wee eyeshadows are very inexpensive ($2.49 CAD). Now I will warn you, if you have dark skin or prefer really pigmented shadows, this probably won’t be for you. But, if you’re like me and sometimes crave a very natural, “no makeup” makeup look and would love a light wash of taupey goodness for that maybe-she’s-born-with-it effect, I would definitely recommend trying Greige. I have a hard time finding shadows that don’t show up rather dark or dramatic against my fair skin. Greige is the subtle, matte shade I have been looking for.
I think Greige is a hidden gem of the drugstore. Have you tried any of the other Revlon Shadowlinks? Are they worth checking out?
