Tarte Cheek Stain in “Flush”

I’ve had this for a while now and have tried really hard to like it. The Tarte Cheek Stains are a “cult favourite” best-seller and being obsessed with blush I thought for sure I’d love this product. There are a few reasons I feel “meh” about it and haven’t reached for it more.

I like to use a cheek stain in two ways. Mainly I use it UNDER foundation. The Tarte Cheek Stain is too tacky for that though. Compared to something like Benetint, it just doesn’t seem to “set” on me, so trying to apply a mineral powder foundation over it is impossible, and it doesn’t work that well under liquid foundation either. In each case it tends to grab the foundation.

I also use it on its own on days when I’m not wearing much makeup. I find the Tarte Cheek Stain too sheer (and Flush is one of the darkest shades!) and not particularly long-lasting. After an hour or so its completely disappeared. I also don’t like the smell. Why you would add fragrance to a blush product I don’t know. These smell fruity and the scent sticks around on your cheeks long after you’ve applied it.

I am just not a fan. If you have any suggestions for how you’ve used the Tarte Cheek Stains differently in a way that works for you, leave me a comment below.

Tarte is available in Canada at Sephora. The Cheek Stains, which have recently been re-released with redesigned packaging, retail for $36.00 CAD.
