MAC Store Shopping in Toronto

Okay, while visiting Toronto I *may* have gone to the MAC store 3 times.

MAC Fix+ Travel Size; Pro Palette Eye Shadow x 4; Eye Shadows (Pro Palette Refills); Power Point Eye Pencil in Duck; Lip Pencils in Whirl and Oak; Lipsticks in Twig, Amorous, and Hang-Up

Trip number one was the first day I arrived. It was -30 degrees Celsius with the wind chill and nearly zero percent humidity. My skin immediately felt super dry, so a quick stop at the MAC store for some Fix+ was essential.  This hydrating spray or “aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals” saved me!

Later that week I had more time and stopped into the MAC store on Queen Street where I was tempted by some beautiful lip pencils in Oak and Whirl. MAC lip pencils are my absolute favourite. Oak is a light, neutral, beige/brown that doesn’t seem to warm or too cool and that I have heard goes well with nude lipsticks.  MAC describes Whirl as “dirty rose” and it’s basically a brownish-pink shade that leans more towards the cool side.

I also picked up Twig Lipstick, which was recommended by the lovely LisaLisaD1 as a “Rosie Huntington-Whiteley shade”. My friend Kate picked out the dark and vampy Hang-Up Lipstick for me, and the SA recommended Amorous Lipstick, which I loved but they were sold out (This, obviously,  led to trip number three to another MAC store).

Twig is a super wearable deep rosey-pink, definitely leaning towards being a brown-pink. Amorous is a cool-toned, berry red and an example of why I love having MAC SA’s pick out shades for me! Hang-Up is a dark, purpley-berry shade. It’s what I had hoped Rebel would be, but Rebel looks very fushia on me. Hang-Up stays that deep plum and I think looks great against fair skin.

On my third MAC Store visit (to find Amorous), I remembered that I wanted a Pro Palette Eye Shadow x 4 to pop my favourite shadows in for travelling (I find the 12 palettes too big). The SA helped me pick out four pro pan eyeshadows, because…why not?

MAC eyeshadow in (L-R): Ricepaper, Soba, Woodwinked, and Sketch.

I’m probably the last person on earth to get Woodwinked. I was bummed that even though I packed my makeup in my carry-on, when I got home there was a big ding taken out of poor Woodwinked 😦

MAC eyeshadow in (L-R): Ricepaper (Frost), Soba (Satin), Woodwinked (Veluxe Pearl), and Sketch (Velvet).

Finally, I asked the SA to recommend an eyeliner that would work on my lower lash line that was as light as my beloved MAC Powersurge Eye Kohl, but that was more cool-toned. I find it difficult to find eyeliner that isn’t really dark. She suggested Power Point Eye Pencil in Duck. Here it is swatched in the middle between Powersurge and Teddy Eye Kohl (which I find too dark for daytime on my lower lash line):

I didn’t realize it was water-proof, so we’ll see how I like that.

As much as I love online shopping, it’s so good to be able to get in to a store once and a while, athough it usually leads to spending way too much, lol. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my crazy shopping tales!
